Calumet Art Center Benefit with Daniel House and Dave Morehouse in Concert

Daniel House is a self-proclaimed “contemporary acoustic man”. He is a past member and president of the Paint Creek Folklore Society who performs a grand variety of mountain, folk and soft rock music. His focus is finger-style guitar and mountain dulcimer and enjoys bringing Baby Boomers some “comfort music” and delivering it in a surprising form.

Dave Morehouse, well-known local multi-instrumentalist will be joining Daniel on stage. Dave’s passion includes, but is not limited to: mandolin, accordion, guitar, fiddle, and concertina. Dave feels that it is important to support the arts and has done so for several years.
Daniel & Dave’s generosity is greatly appreciated by all here at the Calumet Art Center!

Nadine Sanders “The Singing Weaver” in concert this Friday “Spinning Straw into Gold: Woven Harmonies”

Midwestern artist Nadine Sanders to perform at the Calumet Art Center Performance Hall Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m. She enjoys blending her love of Celtic music with her joy of weaving. This concert is in honor of U.P. Celtic Days. Nadine is a teacher of music and weaving. She also performs in several venues.

Beginning Weaving with Eve Lindsey

Class Date:

September 24, October 1 (Warping)

October 8, 15, 22 (Weaving)

Time: 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Class Fee: $35

Materials Fee: $5

Pre-registration and payment required.

 

Eve will guide you as you learn to warp, wind and dress a loom. If you don’t have access to a loom at home after you take this class, you can rent one here at the Calumet Art Center for $35 per month. There are plenty of looms to go around.

BHK Great Explorations After School Program

 

BHK Great Explorations starts September 18 and will meet every Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Three eight-week sessions are available to elementary, middle and high school students. This session will teach clay or weaving, for more information call Sherry Rivard at 487-6660 ext. 152.

The next two sessions will be held on: December 13 until January 24 and January 27 until March 21
