Watercolor Workshop

Class fee per student is $80.00. You may bring your own supplies or they will be provided for an additional $15 fee.
Carl Mayer, a native of Lake Linden, Michigan, attended Northern Michigan University receiving a Master’s Degree in Art Education. Carl taught art at Marquette Senior High School, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for 35 years and has been conducting watercolor painting workshops since 1970.
Carl was recognized with the Outstanding Art Educator Award in the Marquette Area in 1999. He is a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, having been accepted in three national juried shows. Mr. Mayer served as Artist in Residence at Porcupine Mountain State Park in 2008.
Carl brings a wide experience and knowledge of techniques to his students as he has also studied with many renowned, professional artists—Edgar Whitney, Zoltan Szabo, Robert Wood, Nita Engle and Catherine Chang Liu.
For beginners and professional watercolorists, Carl Mayer’s Watercolor Workshop will focus on “The many moods of water in the watercolor landscape.” Class time will include exercises in basic washes, sketching drills, preliminary values sketches, composition planning, painting techniques and methods and evaluation criteria.
